SERIES 901
ONE PIECE HEAVY DUTY VERTICAL DOORS
|
This simple construction and heavy duty door is used in
manufacturing plants, any types of warehouses, in areas where
the depth is restricted by a travelling crane, in areas where
there is a lot of heat, cold or dust or still in areas where
operation cycles are very frequent.
Using pulleys, sprockets and counterweights as a mechanism, this
one piece door eliminates for any practical purpose maintenance
on the traditional hardware parts.
This one piece door also eliminates any air infiltration.
|
The doors are ONE PIECE HEAVY DUTY VERTICAL DOORS SERIES 901 as
manufactured by Dorion Doors Inc., 2987, boul. Perrot, Île
Perrot, Quebec, Canada J7V 8P4.
All doors are manufactured as per our shop drawings and
standardized specifications described below.
All doors are also manufactured as per CSA W47.1 certification
from the Canadian Welding Bureau.
|
The frame is made of square or rectangular HSS in steel, from 50
mm up to 100 mm thick depending on the width and the height of
the door as well as the insulation thickness. The inside and
outside covering sheets of 1.6 mm thick are in satin coat steel
as per norm ASTM ZF75 or in galvanized steel as per norm ASTM
Z275.
The covering sheets are fastened to the frame with self-taping
steel screws with neoprene or steel blind rivets. Weather
shields are provided on the covering sheets on both sides to
prevent water infiltration.
The frame of the door receives one coat of 26 microns epoxy
primer before being covered by the covering sheets. The back of
the covering sheets also receives one coat of 26 microns epoxy
primer on its full length.
The one piece vertical doors are manufactured to withstand an
overload due to the wind of 1 kPa with less than 1/240
deflection in the horizontal plane.
The welding procedures as well as the welds while the doors are
being manufactured are inspected by the welding supervisor in
accordance with the norm CSA W47.1 from the Canadian Welding
Bureau.
|
The insulation is a fire retardant polyurethane foam injected at
a density of 49 kg/meter³ (3.6 lbs/foot³) as per norm ASTM C-518
for thermal resistance and ASTM E-84 for flame spread at <25 and
smoke at <450. C.F.C. free.
|
The counterweights box is manufactured with two grade 44W steel
beams (girder) of 305 mm minimum in width provided with inside
50 mm x 50 mm x 3 mm steel angles to guide the counterweights.
The counterweights are in steel. The front of the counterweights
box is provided with a full height of opening grade 44W steel
plate 3 mm thick.
A removable steel plate of a minimum height of 2440 mm x 3 mm
thick covers the bottom part of the counterweights box to permit
access to the counterweights without problem.
The counterweights box is insulated with the same insulation
process as the door.
The assembly is provided with a 6.4 mm thick, grade 44W, steel
plate for floor anchoring and must be solidly braced to the
adjacent member of the door.
The welding procedures as well as the welds while the
counterweight boxes are being manufactured are inspected by the
welding supervisor in accordance with the norm CSA W47.1 from
the Canadian Welding Bureau.
|
The guide is manufactured with square or rectangular HSS in
steel of the same dimensions and quality as of the counterweight
box.
The steel angles that guide the door on the counterweights box
side as well as on the guide side are determined by the
thickness of the door as well as by the dimensions of the HSS
used.
The steel angles must have 6.4 mm thick, must be welded 25 mm
long at every 610 mm, center to center and all the welding
procedures must be executed in accordance with the norm CSA
W47.1 of the Canadian Welding Bureau.

COUNTERBALANCING MECHANISM:
|
The counterbalancing mechanism consists of machined pulleys and
sprockets with #R60 minimum roller chain mounted on a minimum 32
mm diameter cold roll shaft with key way supported by pillow
blocks, in sufficient numbers, bolted on the top of the
counterweights box and of the guide.
This mechanism allows to link the door to its counterweights by
the intermediary of two roller chains and two aircraft
galvanized steel cables, construction 7 x 19.
The roller chains and the cables have a safety factor of 7:1.
|
To prevent the door from falling abruptly in the event of the
counterbalancing mechanism breakdown, the door is equipped with
a safety locking device that locks the door into the
counterweights box and the guide and also cuts the power to the
electric operator.
|
An AGDS type safety edge underneath the bottom of the door
serves as weatherstrip as well as safety.
An aluminum extruded channel with a triple contact santoprene
weatherstrip is provided for the outside perimeter.
|
The doors, the counterweights boxes and the guides are painted
on both sides with one coat of 26 microns epoxy primer and one
coat of 48 microns acrylic/polyurethane to obtain a certified
thickness of 74 microns.
The colours are at the architect's choice.
|
A sidelock for manual doors not exceeding 2440 mm high x ± 11 m²
(120 square feet) of surface. Doors exceeding those sizes must
be electrically operated.
|
manual: with a chain hoist for doors not exceeding 2440 mm high
x ± 11 m² (120 square feet) of surface
electric: with an electric door operator which you will find the
specifications on our site under operators jackshaft.
|
The door manufacturer must have a minimum of five years
experience in manufacturing doors of the required model.
The welding procedures and the welders, in workshops as well as
on the jobsites, must have been approved and qualified by the
Canadian Welding Bureau in accordance with the norm CSA W47.1.
The welding procedures in workshops and on the jobsites must be
submitted to the project manager before manufacturing.
