DOORS UP TO 13,7 M (45') WIDE |
Due to research and development, we have the technical
possibility to manufacture doors up to 13,7 m (45') wide while
keeping its high tech quality as well as its extreme strength.
|
SERIES 500 - HEAVY DUTY DOORS IN ALUMINUM OR IN STEEL
FROM 75 MM (3") TO 100 MM (4") THICK WITH REINFORCING SAFETY
STRUT
|
Doors are in aluminum or in steel injected with polyurethane as
per SERIES 500 manufactured by DORION DOORS INC. All doors are
supplied according to our shop drawings and standardize
specifications described below.
|
The new technical evolution has made it possible to manufacture
panels starting from a steel frame skeleton covered with
appropriate metal sheets on both sides inside which the
polyurethane is injected at a density of 49 kg/cubic metre (3.6
lbs/cubic foot) to obtain a very resistant and high tech quality
door.
|
The technical result due to the principle of distance between
the outside and inside sheetings of the door panels; the
possible total elimination of thermal bridges because of the
rigid PVC channels which are supplied with three santoprene
weatherstrips positioned on the top and on the bottom of each
door panel and the capacity to inject the panels at a density of
49 kg/cubic metre (3.6 lbs/cubic foot) reduces to a maximum air
infiltrations and increases in a spectacular way the insulation
factor between both door panels.
|
RESULTS OF LABORATORY TESTS:
|
We have used an infra-red gun to demonstrate that the heat
degree between the panels of doors 75 mm (3") and 100 mm (4")
thick is ± 1° C above the temperature of the door surface.
ex: the heat of the inside sheeting of the door panels is
equivalent to the atmosphere and so on when a building is heated
at 18° C.
|
As far as energy saving is concerned, if the building is heated
at a normal temperature, it is very important to use a 75 mm
(3") thick or 100 mm (4") thick door.
It is inconceivable to install thinner doors if your pay to heat
the building. The difference between a 45 mm (1 3/4") thick door
and 75 mm (3") or 100 mm (4") thick door is like day or night.
|
The doors are manufactured to withstand an overload due to the
wind of 2 kPa with less than 1/360 deflection in the horizontal
plane.
|
High quality aluminum sheet as per norm ASTM B-209 and
commercial quality steel sheet as per norm ASTM 653. Steel satin
coated sheets as per norm ASTM ZF75 and galvanized steel sheets
as per norm ASTM Z275.

Sections have 535 mm and 610 mm high. Each section is provided,
on its full height, with a double steel plate at each end. The
end stiles are in rigid PVC.
|
Further to our research, our new structural panels concept has
made it possible to reduce the curvatures of the doors
prevailing during the winter seasons.
Each section is supplied with a horizontal reinforcing safety
steel strut embedded into the insulating foam during the
injection process, the full width of the section.
With this concept, it strengthens the panel construction to
resist impacts as well as reducing the possibility of intrusions
through the door panels.
|
The 100 mm (4") thick doors are provided with an ISOTHERMAL
TRIPLE BREAK between each section with an interchangeable
santoprene weatherstrip.
By using santoprene, which is a refrigeration product, it does
not shrink when confronted with the cold and consequently, keeps
its elasticity and shape. Because of the sizes used, the
santoprene has the peculiarity of reducing to the maximum air
infiltrations and to increase the energetic efficiency.
The bottom section is provided with an extruded rigid PVC
channel in which a "U"-shaped santoprene weatherstrip slides in.
The top section is also provided with an extruded rigid PVC
channel in which a flap type santoprene weatherstrip slides in.
|
The insulation is a fire retardant polyurethane foam injected as
per norm ASTM C-518 for thermal resistance and ASTM E-84 for
flame spread at <25 and smoke at <450. C.F.C. free. The
injection density is 49 kg/cubic meter (3.6 lbs/cu. foot).
Injection process: from one end of the section to the other
without any interference by wood pieces. The R-value is RSI 5.3
(R-30) for the 100 mm (4") thick door.
|
The covering sheets are smooth. The doors are painted with one
coat of epoxy primer 26 microns and one acrylic/polyurethane
finish coat 48 microns, certified, the colour to the owner's
choosing. The inside face can be painted one colour and the
outside face another colour.
N.B. DARK COULOURS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED.
|
The standard rectangular 610 mm wide x 305 mm high glazing is

|
The doors can be manufactured up to 13.7 m wide x 9.75 m high.
Other dimensions are available upon request.
Dorion Doors highly recommend the use of aluminum due to its
lightness, easy maintenance and most importantly the materials
is rust free.
